Sustainability Prize at EARTH University

The Sustainability Laboratory announces $10,000 in annual prize money awarded in support of EARTH University entrepreneurial student initiatives that best incorporate The Five Core Principles of Sustainability. The Lab is pleased to partner with EARTH University which has created a new educational paradigm whose graduates are grounded in systemic thinking, ethical and human values, and entrepreneurial skills. The prize program was launched at the commencement of the 2009 academic year.


 

During a marathon 18 hours of lectures on the "Five Core Principles of Sustainability", Dr. Michael Ben-Eli, founder of the Sustainability Laboratory, launched the annual sustainability prize program at EARTH University. Over 80 Participating fourth year students were divided in two groups, each meeting for a full day.

 

The first annual prize of $10,000, which has been funded by the Lab, will be awarded during graduation ceremonies in December 2009, to a graduation project which best embodies the Lab's Sustainability Principles. 

 

 

 

The program has been developed in collaboration with Professors Bert Kohlmann and Irene Alvarado at EARTH.

 

 

2009 Prize Winners

The winning project was community-based initiative to create a network of neighboring communities for the joint purpose of managing solid waste. To read the official selection report follow the link to download.
