We are proud to announce that our abundant olive harvest has yielded the first batch of organic olive oil, another high-quality product from the team at Project Wadi Attir.
In honor of this milestone, we wanted to bring you a photo essay that takes you through the planting and growth of PWA’s olive grove.
Our olive groves were planted in March of 2013 by students from a number of local schools, including a special education school in Hura.
They immediately became a source of pride for the project, and a must-see stop on site tours.
Heavy rains in December 2013 could have threatened the young grove, but their roots were strong, and the water led to an explosion of green.
By summer 2014, new birds and other animal species were being spotted amongst the olive trees.
By fall 2015, our olives were looking ready for harvest.
And they were!
We look forward to updating you on developments, including how to get your hands on a bottle of our olive oil!
